Job summary

Academia Ltd t/a Smartdesc on a university campus in Cardiff is seeking an Endpoint and Application Engineer to deliver day-to-day endpoint management, application packaging and deployment within the University managed service across five campuses.

You will join the Technical Services team, providing 2nd line technical expertise for Microsoft Intune, Windows endpoint management, Autopilot provisioning, and security/compliance efforts while balancing proactive maintenance and service improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in 2nd Line Endpoint Engineering, EUC, Modern Workplace or Infrastructure.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, Windows 10/11 and Windows Autopilot.
• Experience with application packaging and deployment.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience with Incident, Change and Problem Management and ITSM platforms such as Freshservice or ServiceNow.
• Knowledge of endpoint security and Microsoft security technologies.
• PowerShell experience for administration and automation.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Microsoft Intune-managed Windows devices, including configuration, compliance, security, patching and device lifecycle management.
• Support device provisioning, onboarding and refresh activities, troubleshooting enrolment and deployment issues.
• Package, test and deploy applications through Intune, managing Win32 packages, deployment rules, testing and troubleshooting.
• Act as an escalation point for endpoint and application issues, investigating root causes and implementing lasting solutions.
• Support endpoint security, vulnerability remediation and compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to security and change management processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve and automate processes, develop technical documentation and contribute to service reviews and continuous improvement.
• Work collaboratively with technical teams and university stakeholders, providing professional support and taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
