Job description

Job Opportunity: Capital Operations Manager at Thames Water

We are seeking two Capital Operations Managers to join Thames Water on a permanent basis, one based in London and the other in Thames Valley & Home Counties.

Role Details:

• 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday
• Hybrid role with flexible base location
• Travel required across Thames Water Region, with 2-3 days per week at Thames Water sites for engagement

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee capital programs and operational projects in Water Production and Water Networks in designated regions.
2. Manage and mitigate regional risks from project initiation to commissioning, including risk logging and stakeholder coordination.
3. Collaborate with system planning to identify investment gaps and develop proposals.
4. Support large capital schemes as the accountable operational representative, ensuring successful delivery and outcomes.
5. Coordinate operational input into the AMP delivery programme and ensure sustainable outcomes.
6. Oversee delivery of capital works, communicate updates, and ensure governance compliance.
7. Lead a team of up to 30 staff, with potential for 5-10 direct reports.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in construction or industrial fields
• Proven project and programme management skills with a commercial focus
• Operational experience delivering outcomes within budget
• Strong data analysis and communication skills
• Leadership experience in managing teams and developing practices
• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder influencing skills
• Self-motivated and resilient; hold a full UK driving license
