Job summary

A leading online fashion retailer is seeking a Junior Buyer to shape a product range that connects with customers. You will support the Head of Buying in creating a profitable product offer and engage in product development and market research. Role Overview

The Role: Menswear
As a Junior Buyer, you'll play a key role in shaping a product range that really connects with our customers. You'll support the Head of Buying in developing and delivering a commercial, on-trend and profitable offer that drives sales and keeps our customer at the heart of every decision. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role where you'll get involved in product development, sample management, market research and supplier communication. You'll use your eye for product and your strong organisational skills to make sure ranges land on time and reflect what our customer wants now - and next.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Plan and understand how the business strategy impacts your department
  • Influence the pricing strategy and price‑point policy for ranges in conjunction with the Merchandiser
  • Apply knowledge of the current competitive marketplace and trends to drive the direction of the department
  • Propose capacity planning to meet changing demands for the product
  • Maintain solid understanding of customer insights, market share and opportunities
  • Apply New Look brand and sub‑brand strategy to product and range decisions within own area
  • Collaborate with Marketing and E‑Comm to identify opportunities for your department
  • Develop pricing strategy and work with design to create product brief and direction for suppliers
  • Manage and sign off product specification packs, thinking creatively to meet the critical path
  • Negotiate best cost‑price to achieve departmental margin targets
  • Understand product trends and interpret them into product areas
  • Build the right product at the right time, aligned to the design brief to meet customer requirements
  • Utilise Open to Buy (OTB) through product development
  • Build ranges to maximise sales and profit while offering the best assortment
  • Source the best route and supplier for product, developing a short‑lead‑time route for trading
  • Monitor critical path to ensure intake and distribution targets are met
  • Highlight trial product opportunities to maximise future sales and reduce risk
  • Work with Garment Tech to complete fit sessions, develop blocks and fit reflecting design input and customer trends
  • Agree on packaging requirements and product presentation in line with the critical path
Who You Are
  • Experience as a Senior Assistant Buyer or Junior Buyer, ideally within a fast‑paced fashion retailer and within Menswear
  • Strong understanding of product, customer and commercial performance, confident working with data to inform decisions
Education & Qualifications
  • A fashion‑related qualification or degree desirable, but we value relevant experience and a passion for product
