About the Client

Our client is a major organisation with a national footprint and a strong reputation for operational excellence and commercial discipline. They manage large, complex procurement portfolios that underpin critical operations and drive strategic outcomes across multiple business lines.

About the Role

As part of a growing procurement function, they are seeking experienced Buyers to manage end‑to‑end purchasing processes and deliver significant value through compliance, efficiency, and stakeholder engagement.

This is a Docklands‑based Procurement Buyer position offered on a -month contract with potential for extension. You will be responsible for managing end‑to‑end purchase order creation and maintenance for upstream procurement categories, averaging approximately POs per month.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process requisitions and convert them into purchase orders daily.
  • Maintain purchase orders (update text, delivery dates, etc.).
  • Collect vendor proposals and conduct simple negotiations.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and approve additional freight costs.
  • Liaise with strategic buyers on project or turnaround purchases.
  • Support timely invoice payment and compliance with procurement standards.

The role also involves proactive coordination with stakeholders and suppliers to optimise cycle times and maintain operational continuity.

About You

You’re an experienced procurement professional, ideally with exposure to upstream categories or complex operational environments. You bring a strong commercial mindset, deep understanding of purchasing processes, and a proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders across all levels.

You bring :
  • Demonstrated experience managing high‑volume purchase orders and transactional buying — ideally within energy, engineering, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong negotiation, sourcing, and supplier management expertise.
  • Sound knowledge of Procure‑to‑Pay (PtP) processes and procurement systems, with advanced SAP / ERP proficiency.
  • Proven ability to apply a compliance and governance lens while driving efficiency.
  • Strategic thinking, strong analytical capability, and exceptional relationship management skills.
  • A proactive and solutions‑focused approach to delivering measurable business outcomes.
