Shape the Future of Marine Engineering

As a Buyer, you’ll be at the heart of our Site Facilities Management (FM) team, supporting our Marine business in a fast-paced and reactive environment. This is a dynamic opportunity to influence strategic sourcing and supply management activities that directly impact national defence and marine engineering projects. You’ll work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure contracts are effectively administered, risks are mitigated, and goods and services are delivered on time and within budget. This role offers a unique chance to grow your career in procurement while contributing to projects that matter.

Responsibilities
  • Capturing specific project requirements and translating them into supply chain solutions
  • Designing supply strategies that maximise performance and minimise risk
  • Leading sourcing activities using Babcock’s six-step methodology
  • Drafting and approving contracts, driving stakeholder engagement
  • Owning contract execution and expediting activities to deliver continuous improvement

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Buyer
  • Proven experience in procurement of goods and services, particularly in Facilities Management (FM).
  • Strong background in FM environments within large-scale, fast-paced organisations.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering excellent supply chain performance.
  • Skilled in both Hard and Soft FM procurement and supply chain activities.
  • Ability to present complex information clearly to support decision-making.
Qualifications for the Buyer
  • Degree qualified or equivalent through work experience
  • MCIPS qualified or working towards MCIPS (or equivalent professional qualification)
