Job summary

AES is seeking a proactive Buyer for an 11-month fixed-term contract in Cambridgeshire. The role blends hands-on procurement with supplier interaction, data analysis and continuous improvement to enhance cost, quality and delivery performance.

The successful candidate will manage PO activity, RFIs/RFQs, and supplier benchmarking, supported by ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel. This hybrid role offers on-site days and remote collaboration, with a competitive package including a bonus and pension.

Qualifications

• Experience of purchase order management and supplier communication.
• Strong analytical skills with advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience of ERP/MRP or similar business systems.
• Degree-level qualification in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to join a highly innovative, rapidly developing technology business.

Working as part of an established Supply Chain team, you will support purchasing, supplier management and supply-chain activities while using data and analysis to improve cost, quality, delivery and supply continuity. The position combines hands-on procurement with supplier interaction, reporting and continuous improvement.

THE ROLE

• Managing day-to-day purchasing activities, including purchase orders, expediting, returns and supplier communication
• Preparing and managing RFIs, RFQs and supplier benchmarking
• Analysing demand, cost, inventory and supplier performance data
• Supporting ERP and supply-chain reporting improvements
• Identifying and mitigating supply-chain risks

THE PERSON

We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded individual with experience within procurement, purchasing, supply chain or operations support.

You should ideally have:

• Experience of purchase order management and supplier communication
• Strong analytical skills with advanced Microsoft Excel
• Experience of ERP/MRP or similar business systems
• Degree-level qualification in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations or a related discipline - or equivalent experience
• CIPS or another professional procurement qualification would be advantageous
