Job summary

Polytec Personnel Ltd in Ely, Cambridgeshire and Cambridge is seeking a Junior Buyer to join a fast‑paced supply chain team on an 11‑month fixed‑term contract. You’ll support day‑to‑day purchasing, supplier management and procurement analysis, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure cost, quality and delivery targets are met.

You’ll collaborate with engineering and other stakeholders to resolve supply and quality issues, manage purchase orders, RFIs/RFQs, and benchmarking,

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in supply chain, business, or related field.
• Procurement or purchasing experience in a similar role.
• Experience with purchase orders and supplier management.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills; Power BI desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchase orders, expediting, returns and supplier queries.
• Support RFIs, RFQs, supplier sourcing and benchmarking.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships and monitor performance.
• Analyse purchasing, cost, inventory and supplier data; produce reports.
• Collaborate with engineering to resolve supply and quality issues.
• Support supplier onboarding, compliance, risk management and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to improve cost, efficiency and supply chain performance.

Work Type: 11-month fixed term contract

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday (hybrid working - at least 2 days a week in Ely and 1 day a week in Cambridge)

Salary: £33,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain effective supplier relationships and monitor performance
• Analyse purchasing, cost, inventory and supplier data, producing reports and dashboards
• Work with engineering and other stakeholders to resolve supply and quality issues
• Support supplier onboarding, compliance, risk management and continuous improvement
• Identify opportunities to improve cost, efficiency and supply chain performance

Requirements

• Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
• Experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain or a similar role
• Experience with purchase orders and supplier management
• Good commercial awareness and strong communication skills
• Experience using an ERP system, ideally NetSuite or similar
• Organised, proactive and comfortable managing competing priorities
• Strong Excel and analytical skills%3B Power BI experience is desirable
• CIPS or similar qualification is desirable
