Job summary

AES in Cambridge is seeking a Buyer for an 11-month fixed-term contract with hybrid work (3 days on-site). The role covers purchasing, supplier management, data analysis and continuous improvement to optimize cost, quality and delivery.

The ideal candidate has P/O management experience, strong Excel skills, ERP/MRP exposure and a related degree; CIPS qualification is a plus. Open to ambitious junior to mid-level buyers seeking growth in a fast-moving tech environment.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations or a related discipline - or equivalent experience.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to join a highly innovative, rapidly developing technology business.

Working as part of an established Supply Chain team, you will support purchasing, supplier management and supply-chain activities while using data and analysis to improve cost, quality, delivery and supply continuity. The position combines hands-on procurement with supplier interaction, reporting and continuous improvement.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for:

• Managing day-to-day purchasing activities, including purchase orders, expediting, returns and supplier communication
• Preparing and managing RFIs, RFQs and supplier benchmarking
• Analysing demand, cost, inventory and supplier performance dataSupporting ERP and supply-chain reporting improvements
• Identifying and mitigating supply-chain risks

THE PERSON

We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded individual with experience within procurement, purchasing, supply chain or operations support.

You should ideally have:

• Experience of purchase order management and supplier communication

• Experience of ERP/MRP or similar business systems
• Degree-level qualification in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations or a related discipline - or equivalent experience
