Job description

We are seeking an accomplished and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our dynamic events team during a transformative period of growth and expansion. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of a thriving portfolio of global events and awards, with a particular focus on the Real Asset finance sector, notably infrastructure, energy and real estate finance.

Our events business is strategically positioned to capitalize on the increasing demand for high-quality networking platforms and industry engagement. This expansion follows the acquisition of IJ Global by Green Street, a development that has significantly enhanced IJ Global’s capacity to deliver exceptional networking experiences through our established conferences and awards portfolio. By integrating IJ Global's deep market expertise in infrastructure with Green Street's resources and insights in real estate, we are driving innovation and excellence across our events portfolio for the Real Asset community.

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and securing new business opportunities, cultivating long-term client relationships, and driving revenue growth. This position requires a strategic mindset, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in business development, particularly in the context of B2B events. The role will focus, but not exclusively, on emerging markets.

Responsibilities
  • Drive and exceed table sales, sponsorship, advertising, and tailored marketing revenues across awards dinners, events, and conferences.
  • Engage regularly with key accounts to align solutions with their business development goals, utilizing face-to-face, video, or phone interactions.
  • Prospect and secure new accounts through networking, campaigns, cold calls, and lead generation channels.
  • Identify and capitalize on upselling and cross-selling opportunities between awards, events, and subscriptions.
  • Meet and exceed revenue and client engagement targets, thriving under pressure.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (sales, events, marketing, editorial) to deliver and grow revenue streams.
  • Become an expert in both sales processes and real asset finance related to IJ Global and Green Street.
  • Turn client feedback into actionable strategies to drive new business, product development and address competitor risks.
  • Maintain accurate Salesforce records for pipeline tracking and business insights.
  • Provide regular progress reports and forecasts to sales management.
  • Travel for client meetings to foster relationships and generate sales.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of successful sale experience.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and spoken) with high numeracy proficiency.
  • Proven track record of driving new business development opportunities, preferably in emerging markets.
  • Ability to be immersed in a collaborative culture where success is shared and celebrated.
  • Ability to demonstrate discipline with strong time management capacity.
  • Excellent presentation and telephone sales abilities.
  • Highly motivated, eager to learn, and coachable, with a great attitude.
  • Confidence in engaging with senior-level influencers, budget holders, and decision-makers.
  • Solid understanding of the infrastructure and energy sectors is desirable.
  • Business fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experienced in using Salesforce effectively.
