First Travel Solutions is currently recruiting a Business Development Manager (Bids & Proposals) to join our Business Development team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The successful candidate will develop strong relationships with potential clients, acting as the "go-to" person responsible for sales and market development within their sector and broader customer base. They will influence strategy, identify resource needs, and prioritize activities to focus on commercial growth and client expansion.
This role also involves supporting the business development and wider commercial teams with bids and proposals, including bid writing and tender management.
This is a remote role requiring frequent UK travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Head of Business Development to enhance revenue, profit, market share, and client development, focusing on value-added products and services.
- Achieve sales targets through proactive and reactive business development efforts.
- Generate new leads within their sector and support the entire FTS team.
- Conduct research to identify new business opportunities, including reviewing tender portals.
- Manage sales opportunities, lead proposals, and develop business opportunities.
- Engage in networking to maintain and grow the Brand and Service Portfolio.
- Build relationships with trade and professional organizations, ensuring ROI on memberships and exhibitions.
- Support marketing initiatives to develop and execute local or national campaigns.
- Manage associated marketing costs and budgets as needed.
- Report on sales activities and lead development periodically using CRM and internal systems.
- Perform duties flexibly based on business needs, including mobilizing work through the delivery team and briefing relevant departments.
Skills and Experience
- Experience as a Business Development/Sales Manager in transport, FM, or outsourcing contract services.
- Proven ability to identify opportunities and build qualified pipelines.
- Relevant sector experience in a sales role.
- Track record of lead generation and securing new sales with high-profile B2B clients.
- Strong networking skills to build contacts and leads.
- Knowledge of the PAX transport industry is desirable.
- Extensive experience with tender responses and bid content writing.
- Ability to craft high-quality sales proposals across media.
- Confidence in client-facing roles, understanding client requirements.
- Basic understanding of Profit and Loss statements is ideal.
- Tenacious, resilient, calm under pressure, customer-focused, and commercially aware.
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to engage at all levels.
Salary
£50,000 - £60,000 plus a bonus of up to 15% based on performance.
