Job summary

Tilbury Douglas is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Building team in Southampton, supporting commercial delivery across projects in the South West. You will own key commercial activities, protecting margins and reporting costs throughout the project lifecycle.

The role involves managing subcontractor accounts, cost control and reporting, and working closely with senior commercial staff and operations to identify risks and opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in cost control and commercial management on construction projects.
• Ability to forecast, report, and manage valuations and variations.
• Strong numerical/analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Good communication and collaboration within project teams.
• Experience with subcontractor accounting and payments.
• MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Support the commercial management of projects, including cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
• Assist in the procurement and administration of subcontractor packages.
• Manage valuations, variations, and applications for payment.
• Contribute to monthly cost/value reconciliations and reporting.
• Work closely with operational teams to support project delivery and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
