Job summary

Tilbury Douglas is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for our Building team based in Birmingham. You will own the commercial management of projects, driving value and ensuring financial performance from procurement through final account.

You will lead on cost control, forecasting, and final accounts, with responsibility for subcontract procurement, payments, variations, and claims. The role requires mentoring junior staff and close collaboration with clients and the supply chain.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial management of construction projects.
• Experience with final accounts and cost reporting.
• Strong knowledge of measurement and standard forms of contract.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the commercial management of projects, including cost control, forecasting, reporting, and final account agreement.
• Lead on subcontract procurement, negotiation, and contract administration to ensure best value and effective risk management.
• Prepare and manage applications for payment, variations, and claims, ensuring timely cash flow and commercial protection.
• Work closely with project teams and clients to identify risks and opportunities, driving value engineering and commercial performance.
• Lead, mentor, and support junior commercial staff, contributing to the development of a high-performing team.
