Job summary

Tilbury Douglas is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial function on major building projects across the South East. This senior role drives financial delivery, manages risk, and mentors the commercial team to maximise value and protect margins.

You will collaborate with operational and leadership teams to influence outcomes. Seeking an established leader with extensive QS and commercial experience on large projects, strong contract knowledge, and a track record

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in quantity surveying and commercial management on major projects.
• Strong leadership experience including managing commercial teams.
• In-depth knowledge of contract forms and construction commercial processes.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen with proven margin protection.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional membership (e.g. RICS) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of major projects or a portfolio of schemes, ensuring financial success
• Oversee cost planning, forecasting, valuations, variations, and final account negotiations
• Provide leadership and mentoring to the commercial team, supporting development and performance
• Drive procurement strategy and subcontractor management to achieve best value and risk mitigation
• Work closely with senior stakeholders to influence commercial strategy and project outcomes
