Serco is recruiting a Carpenter for the Estates team at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in Norwich. The role focuses on maintaining and improving healthcare facilities to support patient care in a safe, functional environment.

Responsibilities include planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and collaboration with other trades. The position emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with on-call duties and a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 Carpentry or equivalent qualification.
• City and Guilds Carpentry/Joinery qualification is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of building maintenance and repair techniques.
• Ability to work independently and problem-solve.

Salary: £29,744 to £32,328.27 plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Permanent, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm (30 mins break)

What You’ll Do As a Carpenter

You'll be entrusted to:

• Carry out building maintenance and new works as directed, ensuring high standards are met
• Use your own initiative to diagnose and resolve building fabric issues
• Support other trades and collaborate across teams when required
• Maintain accurate records such as work logs, timesheets, and audit information
• Follow all health and safety policies to ensure safe working practices
• Participate in on-call rotas and respond to emergency repair needs when required

Vetting And Checks

This role requires a Basic DBS check, which will disclose any unspent convictions in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to help us identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
