Job summary

Serco Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary is seeking a Technical Services Manager to lead hard facilities management in a busy healthcare setting. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage complex mechanical, electrical, and medical gas systems, and ensure safety, compliance and service excellence across the hospital estate.

The role requires leadership, budget awareness, and the ability to coordinate with NHS and contractors, including on-call duties.

Qualifications

  • Educated to Degree or HNC/HND level in an engineering discipline, with significant experience in a maintenance or engineering management environment.
  • Strong knowledge of complex mechanical, electrical and electronic systems within a large operational environment, ideally healthcare.
  • Experience leading, developing and motivating teams while managing performance, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Commercially aware, with experience of managing contractual performance and delivering against key performance indicators.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure, make sound decisions and manage competing priorities in a demanding environment.
  • Full UK driving licence and the ability to undertake on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory and statutory requirements, maintain safe systems of work and managing technical audits.
  • Manage maintenance compliance activities, asset condition reporting, lifecycle planning and technical documentation.
  • Build strong relationships with NHS stakeholders, specialist contractors, Authorising Engineers and other partners to deliver customer-focused services.
  • Support budget management, variation pricing, risk management and KPI performance across the contract.

Up to £63,000 per annum + Car + Benefits Package

Participation in the Management On-Call rota may be required - potential salary add on up to £2790 per annum

As a Technical Services Manager in our Health team, you'll lead the delivery of critical Hard Facilities Management services within a busy acute healthcare environment. You'll ensure complex engineering systems remain safe, compliant and effective, helping colleagues deliver essential healthcare services every day.

Your leadership will support the smooth running of hospital facilities, helping to create a safe and reliable environment for patients, visitors and healthcare teams. Working closely with NHS partners, contractors and colleagues, you'll create impactful solutions that support service excellence, build trust and make a positive impact on communities now and into the future.

This role requires membership of the PVG Scheme, which involves a detailed check of spent and unspent convictions and other relevant information to ensure safeguarding compliance.
