Job summary

Serco Wishaw General Hospital in Wishaw, ML2 0DP, is recruiting for Electrical Biased Technicians to join the Estates team. This permanent, full-time role focuses on maintaining, repairing, and improving critical electrical systems to keep hospital services running safely.

You will provide specialist electrical advice, perform planned and reactive maintenance on plant and building infrastructure, and support apprentices.

Qualifications

• A recognised electrical trade qualification and experience working as an Electrician in a complex building environment.
• Strong fault finding skills with the ability to work autonomously and prioritise competing demands.
• Knowledge of electrical regulations including BS7671 (Wiring Regulations) and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist electrical advice and support to estates colleagues and contractors
• Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance on plant, equipment, and building infrastructure
• Undertake fault-finding, testing, inspection, and diagnosis across complex electrical systems and equipment
• Complete installation, repair, calibration, and validation tasks in line with relevant regulations and guidance
• Use calibrated test equipment to ensure safe operation of wiring systems, emergency generators, and critical systems
• Participate in the on-call rota to provide emergency out of hours response
• Maintain accurate documentation including work orders, test certificates, and reports
• Support and guide apprentices and maintenance assistants when required

What you\'ll do as a Technician

You'll be a great fit for this role if you have

This role requires membership of the PVG Scheme, which involves a detailed check of spent and unspent convictions and other relevant information to ensure safeguarding compliance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can provide any necessary support to help you carry out your responsibilities.
