Job summary

Serco Limited is hiring an Electrical Technician to support the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. You will maintain electrical services across a large estate, perform reactive repairs, and deliver preventative maintenance to ensure patient care areas run safely and efficiently.

The role involves a 6-week rotating shift (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am) with additional shift payments and DBS checks. Experience in similar environments and relevant qualifications are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent structured training.
  • City & Guilds or BTEC electrical qualifications are required.
  • Proven experience in a similar environment, ideally large or complex buildings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical building services.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain electrical services, plant and equipment across the hospital estate to high safety and performance standards.
  • Carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, servicing, commissioning and maintenance as directed by estates supervisors and managers.
  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance across a wide range of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Work safely at all times, assess risks, follow permits and policies, and know when to seek advice.
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues, supervisors, managers and hospital staff regarding work activity and service availability.
  • Accurately complete work orders and records using computerised labour control systems.

Up to £44397 per annum + Excellent Benefits

Opportunities available include both Days Only and Shift Work(6-week rotating shift pattern - rotated from 6am-2pm / 2pm -10pm / 10pm-6am)

Additional rotary shift payment of £1950 per 52 weeks, additional pay 0.5x time on Saturdays, 1x time Sundays and bank holidays when rostered to work.

What you'll do as an Electrical Technician

You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Maintain electrical services, plant, and equipment across the hospital estate to high safety and performance standards

  • Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent structured training programme
  • Relevant City and Guilds and or BTEC electrical qualifications
  • Proven experience working in a similar environment, ideally within large or complex buildings
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical building services
  • Strong communication skills and a customer focused approach
Vetting and checks

A Standard DBS check will be carried out for this position. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and warnings as permitted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. An Occupational Health Questionnaire will also be completed so we can ensure you have the necessary support to perform your duties.
