Overview

A client within the Public Sector based in South Yorkshireis currently recruiting for a Senior Building Control Officer (RBI Class 2a–f) to join their Building Control Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority Building Control environment.

Role

The key purpose of the role is to provide specialist technical expertise across Class 2A–F works, undertaking plan assessments, site inspections, and enforcement activities to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations, Building Act 1984, and associated legislation. The post-holder will play a vital part in ensuring buildings meet required standards of health, safety, sustainability, energy efficiency, accessibility and design.

Responsibilities
  • Managing a portfolio of Class 2A–F projects, including new applications, regularisation, and reversion cases
  • Carrying out detailed plan appraisals, site inspections and assessments to ensure full regulatory compliance
  • Investigating dangerous structures, unauthorised works, complaints and demolition control, initiating enforcement where required
  • Preparing evidence files and attending court as the council’s expert witness when necessary
