Job summary

Amey is hiring a permanent Bridges/Structural Engineer in Edinburgh. You will contribute across the full project lifecycle from inception to completion, delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions and robust designs for major transport structures.

You’ll work within a local technical team, liaise with clients, and guide junior staff while upholding safety, quality, and environmental standards. Excellent career development opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Team player with ability to work across disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience in structural engineering projects.
• Ability to produce technically sound engineering solutions compliant with standards (DMRB, Eurocodes).
• Ownership of deliverables and ability to review outputs for quality.
• Knowledge of CDM and risk assessment in design/construction.
• Awareness of interface management and coordination across disciplines.
• Pursuit of Incorporated or Chartered status with ICE or IStructE.

Responsibilities

• Produce technically sound engineering solutions for projects.
• Own and manage delivery of projects from start to finish.
• Prepare designs, calculations, drawings and scheme deliverables to quality, cost and schedule criteria.
• Mentor and guide junior staff on tasks and development.
• Develop and manage client and supplier relationships, attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
• Support bids and work-winning activities and contribute to health and safety practices.
