Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an Associate/Associate Director to provide technical leadership for bridge and civil engineering design and assessment. The role involves delivering high-quality outcomes to time and budget while mentoring junior engineers.

Based across Cardiff, Bristol, Exeter & Truro, you’ll work within our Civil and Bridge Engineering team, collaborating with HS2, Network Rail, and local authorities on diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment.
• Experience in managing bridge projects and supervising teams.
• Working knowledge of Eurocodes and related standards.
• Experience with DMRB/MCDHW for structural schemes.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to design and assessment teams ensuring quality on time and within budget.
• Lead design teams and mentor junior team members.
• Manage resources and coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs; review projects to optimise solutions.
• Lead tenders/bids and develop client relationships; manage fees and commercial aspects.
• Promote a culture of technical review and continuous improvement.
• Oversee supervision and mentoring of junior engineers.
• Engage with clients across UK and overseas on bridge/civil projects.
