Job summary

RBH Hospitality Management in Glasgow is seeking a Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. You will support breakfast service and help maintain the buffet, while upholding health and safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

With 32 hours per week and early 5am starts, this role offers great hands-on training and opportunities for growth in a busy hotel setting. Enthusiasm and teamwork are essential, even without formal qualifications.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in cooking and enthusiasm for learning in a professional kitchen.
• Some previous kitchen experience is a plus, but a willingness to work hard and learn is essential.
• Understanding of basic food prep techniques and a commitment to improving your skills.
• Strong attention to detail, especially regarding cleanliness and food safety.
• Team-oriented mindset, able to take direction well and support colleagues as needed.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, staying focused and reliable during busy services.

Responsibilities

• Preparing breakfast and maintaining the breakfast buffet.
• Follow health & safety regulations in the workplace.
• Maintain a clean, organised workstation, following hygiene and food safety standards rigorously.
• Complete daily/weekly/monthly cleaning tasks.
• Help with kitchen inventory by preparing ingredients and monitoring stock levels and placing food orders.
• Take on all cooking tasks.
• Participate in regular cleaning duties to ensure all equipment and surfaces are kept spotless.
• Quickly learn and adapt to kitchen procedures, contributing effectively to a well-organised team.
• Ensure all kitchen paperwork is up to date and in line with audit standards.
