Job summary

Plumb Centre Havant is recruiting a Branch Supervisor to lead the branch day-to-day, support the Branch Manager, supervise team members, and deliver excellent customer service at the trade counter. The role covers developing the customer base, improving profits and stock range, managing goods in/out, and ensuring compliance with policies.

It is a full-time post, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 07:30–17:00, with Saturdays on a rota 08:00–12:00.

Qualifications

• Previous merchant/branch experience preferable.
• Experience as Supervisor in face-to-face sales essential.
• Willingness to run the branch in the Branch Manager's absence.
• Comfort making outbound sales calls to customers.
• Team player with a diverse branch-role mindset.
• Keenness to learn with a positive attitude and work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Branch Manager with day-to-day running and operations.
• Supervise and support colleagues, provide training and feedback.
• Serve customers on the trade counter with product knowledge.
• Develop the customer base, improve retention and sales mix.
• Identify ways to improve profits and build supplier relations.
• Handle general warehouse duties (goods in/out, picking/packing)
• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

As a Branch Supervisor based in Havant, you’ll be responsible for:

• Assisting the Branch Manager with the day to day running and operations within the branch and take charge when they are not available
• Supervising and supporting colleagues, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to achieve targets and goals
• Serving customers on the trade counter, offering advice and product knowledge
• Developing the customer base, improving retention, satisfaction, product mix, and range
• Identifying and recommending ways to improve profits
• Building rapport with suppliers
• General warehouse duties including, goods in & out, picking and packing customer orders (this will involve manual handling heavy stock i.e., toilets, sinks, boilers, and radiators)
• Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures

This is a full-time, permanent role working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday between 07.30am - 5.00pm and Saturday on a rota basis 08.00am - 12.00pm.

And here’s what we’d like you to have to be a successful Branch Supervisor.

• Previous industry or merchant experience is preferable
• Prior experience as a Supervisor within a Face-to-Face sales environment is essential
• Willingness to step up to run the branch in the Branch Managers absence
• Someone who is comfortable making outbound sales calls to customers to gain new business
• To be a team player who is happy to take on a diverse role to carry out all jobs in the branch to ensure it runs smoothly
• Keenness to learn, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a strong work ethic
