Job description

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and motivated Teacher/Specialist Support Teacher to work with a vision‑impaired student, providing high‑quality support including Braille‑base learning.

This is 15 hours a week, but can be flexible with this.

About the Role
  • Teach and support the student in reading and writing Braille.
  • Modify lesson resources into accessible formats (eg Braille, audio, tactile resources)
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet our student's needs
  • Support our student in building confidence and independence
  • Collaborate with family and support staff where appropriate
Requirements
  • Proficiency in Unified English Braille
  • Experienced teaching or tutoring visually impaired leaners
  • A deep understanding of child development principles and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
