Job summary

South West Recruitment Ltd is seeking a compassionate Bereavement Care Assistant in Poole. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm, 37 hours per week, at £13.69 per hour.

You will transport coffins, support services, and help manage memorial activities with respect and professionalism. Key duties include assisting with ceremonies, operating tribute systems, cleaning, and maintaining the in-house conveyancing vehicle.

Qualifications

• Full and clean UK driving licence (Category B).
• Experience driving a light van (up to 3.5 tonnes).
• Ability to lift up to 50kg and manoeuvre weights up to 190kg with lifting aids.
• Knowledge of the funeral or bereavement trade is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Safely transporting coffins between bereavement sites using the in-house conveyancing vehicle.
• Maintaining the conveyancing vehicle, ensuring it is clean, refueled, and in safe working condition.
• Assisting with ceremony services, including preparing spaces and guiding attendees.
• Conducting communal and witness scatters of cremated remains in designated grounds.
• Supporting the safe operation of the crematory and handling cremated remains.
• Performing cleaning and maintenance in ceremony spaces, public areas, and memorial grounds.
• Carrying out low-level maintenance and groundskeeping tasks as required.
• Providing exceptional customer service to the bereaved, funeral directors, and other service users.
