Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Officer to join a thriving secondary school from September 2026 in Bath. You will work with students, staff and families to create a positive learning environment and improve behaviour, engagement and wellbeing.

Role options include behaviours mentor, pastoral support worker, learning mentor or inclusion officer. You will deliver interventions, monitor data and contribute to safeguarding initiatives to help every pupil succeed.

  • Support students whose behaviour impacts their learning and progress.
  • Build positive relationships with vulnerable and challenging students.

  • Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Monitor behaviour, attendance and engagement data.
  • Liaise with parents, carers and external agencies.

As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will work closely with students, families, teachers and senior leaders to create a positive learning environment where every young person can thrive.

Whether you have experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Pastoral Support Worker, Learning Mentor, Student Support Officer, Youth Worker, Teaching Assistant or Inclusion Officer, we would love to hear from you.

As our Behaviour Support Officer, you will:

  • Support students whose behaviour impacts their learning and progress
  • Build positive relationships with vulnerable and challenging students
  • Deliver targeted behaviour interventions and mentoring sessions
  • Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Work alongside teaching staff to promote positive behaviour across the school
  • Monitor behaviour, attendance and engagement data
  • Liaise with parents, carers and external agencies
  • Help students develop self-regulation, resilience and confidence
  • Contribute to safeguarding and student wellbeing initiatives
  • Promote a culture of respect, inclusion and high expectations
  • Has experience working with young people in education, youth services or community settings
  • Can remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Builds positive relationships quickly and effectively
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is passionate about supporting student wellbeing and achievement
  • Demonstrates resilience, empathy and a solution-focused approach
  • Understands behaviour management and restorative practices
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
