Job summary

GSL Education in Spilsby is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to support learners with challenging behaviours on a supply basis, with ASAP start. You will work within a specialist school, building positive relationships and helping pupils re-engage with learning. Potential for a permanent role may emerge over time.

The position requires resilience, calm communication, and collaboration with teaching staff to implement individual plans and maintain a safe, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience handling challenging behaviours in school, care, or support settings.
• Calm, patient and resilient disposition with the ability to stay composed.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with behavioural needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent role model.
• Promote positive behaviour through clear boundaries and encouragement.
• Help pupils re-engage with learning and develop confidence and independence.
• Work with teachers to follow individual behaviour and support plans.
• Promote a safe, inclusive learning environment and follow safeguarding procedures.
