Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a resilient Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to support secondary school students requiring behavioural, emotional, and academic assistance.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups to manage behaviours, build trust, and help learners overcome barriers to education. Ideal candidates will have calm, patient demeanours, strong de-escalation skills, and experience in schools or related settings.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
• Experience within schools, youth work, mentoring, coaching, residential care, or similar settings is desirable.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural, emotional, and social needs.
• Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and trust.
• Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
• Support students both inside and outside the classroom to improve learning outcomes.
• Work alongside teachers, SENDCOs, and pastoral teams to develop effective intervention plans.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development.
• Record and monitor student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.
• Act as a positive role model, encouraging students to make informed choices and reach their goals.
