Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment on Wirral is seeking dedicated Behaviour Support Assistants to work across secondary schools. The role includes 1:1 and small-group behavioural support, helping students with SEMH needs and building self-regulation and positive engagement in lessons.

Ideal candidates will have calm, patient, resilient approaches and strong communication to build relationships and maintain consistent boundaries, helping create a safe and inclusive learning environment for pupils.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable.
• Experience with challenging behaviour, SEMH or additional needs is advantageous.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to remain positive and consistent in challenging situations.
• Ability to set appropriate boundaries while building trust with students.
• Genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group behavioural support.
• Supporting students with SEMH needs and additional behavioural challenges.
• Helping pupils manage their emotions and develop self-regulation strategies.
• Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and participation in lessons.
• Supporting students who may struggle with attendance, social interactions or classroom expectations.
• Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and SEN departments.
• Helping create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
