Job summary

Monarch Education is seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, or SEMH TA to join a welcoming primary school in North Manchester. You will work 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who require behavioural and emotional support.

Ideal candidates have SEMH, autism, ADHD experience, strong behaviour management, and a calm, patient approach. You’ll collaborate with teachers, SEND teams and contribute to tailored support plans to help pupils engage and succeed.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, SEMH Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or Youth Worker.
• Experience supporting children with SEMH, autism, ADHD, or challenging behaviour.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils who face barriers to learning.
• A genuine passion for helping children succeed.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
• Help pupils develop positive relationships, confidence, and emotional regulation skills.
• Support pupils displaying challenging behaviour both inside and outside the classroom.
• Work alongside teachers and the SEND team to implement tailored support plans.
• Encourage engagement in learning and improve classroom behaviour.
• Build positive relationships with pupils who require additional behaviour support.
• Act as a positive role model and trusted adult within the school.
