Job summary

Tithe Barn Primary School in Stockport is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support pupils in feeling safe, understood and ready to learn. You will work one-to-one, in small groups and alongside teachers to deliver personalised support that strengthens engagement, behaviour for learning and inclusion.

The role is 30 hours per week, term time only, on a fixed-term contract to 31 August 2027, with start date ASAP after appointment.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, understanding their needs and behaviour.
• Support pupils to recognise emotions, regulate, and make independent choices.
• Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches with clear boundaries and expectations.
• Provide proactive behaviour support and identify triggers to help pupils remain engaged.
• De‑escalate when distressed and help pupils return to learning.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEND teams, families and other professionals for consistent support.
• Contribute to plans and review of individual support plans and EHCP outcomes.
• Support progress in learning, wellbeing and social development.
• Promote inclusion, resilience and independence within the school community.
