Job summary

Academics in Chippenham, Wiltshire, seeks a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join its support and pastoral team from September 2026. You will help children develop positive behaviours, improve engagement with education, and build skills to thrive.

You will provide focused, one-to-one and small-group mentoring in the classroom and wider school environment, building trust and teaching coping strategies to manage emotions and behaviours.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in educational or youth-support settings is advantageous.
• Ability to establish safe, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Knowledge of strategies to support emotional wellbeing and social skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one and small-group mentoring for children with behavioural or social needs.
• Establish relationships built on trust, consistency, and clear boundaries.
• Help children recognise emotions, identify triggers, and develop coping strategies.
• Support students to re-engage with lessons and manage conflicts or anxiety.
• Collaborate with teachers and pastoral teams to monitor progress and provide feedback.
