Job summary

Aspire People, on behalf of a large primary school in Oldham, seeks a Behaviour Mentor in Failsworth to support pupils across Key Stages 1 and 2 who are at risk of exclusion or disengagement. The role includes in‑class support, small group work and mentoring outside the classroom.

You will work with pastoral and SEND teams, liaise with parents and track progress to ensure consistent behaviour improvement. Term-time only, full-time hours, £110–£120 per day.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth services or mental health settings.
• Confidence in de-escalation, setting clear boundaries, and promoting positive behaviour.
• Understanding of behaviour management techniques and safeguarding procedures.
• Committed to supporting long-term student progress, not just short-term compliance.
• Resilient, patient and able to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted mentoring for students with behavioural and emotional needs
• Lead small intervention groups and structured restorative sessions
• Supervise pupils in the school's internal isolation or reflection unit when required
• Liaise with parents/carers and pastoral leaders to ensure a joined-up approach

Position Overview

The Behaviour Mentor will work closely with the pastoral and SEND teams to reduce disruption and improve pupil conduct. The role involves in-class support, small group work and mentoring sessions outside the classroom, often with vulnerable or high-need students.
