Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Intervention Teaching Assistant for a SEMH specialist setting in Preston. You will provide 2:1 support to a Year 6 pupil with behavioural and emotional needs, helping them engage with learning and manage challenges.

The role offers full-time, long-term employment with ongoing training in behaviour management within a supportive school environment in the North West of England.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEMH education
• Experience in youth work or mentoring (advantageous)
• Patience and resilience in challenging situations

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 2:1 behavioural and emotional support alongside another Teaching Assistant.
• Implementing consistent behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Supporting emotional regulation, positive communication, and social development.
• Identifying behavioural triggers and responding calmly to challenging situations.
• Building a trusting relationship while maintaining clear, consistent boundaries.
• Working closely with teachers and SEN professionals to implement individual behaviour support plans.
