Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Intervention Teaching Assistant for a SEMH specialist school in Preston. The role focuses on supporting a Year 6 pupil with significant behavioural challenges, delivering intensive 2:1 behavioural and emotional support alongside a fellow TA.

You will help the pupil develop coping strategies, regulate emotions, and engage with education in a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEMH education or related settings is desirable.
• Ability to provide dedicated 2:1 behavioural and emotional support to a child.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 2:1 behavioural and emotional support.
• Implementing consistent behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Supporting emotional regulation, communication and social development.
• Identifying behavioural triggers and responding calmly to challenges.
• Building trust with the pupil while maintaining clear boundaries.
• Collaborating with teachers and SEN professionals to implement behaviour support plans.
