Job summary

Novus, the prison education provider at HMP Durham, is seeking a Barbering Teacher on a permanent, part-time basis (18.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday afternoons). You will deliver barbering education to learners in a secure environment, supporting their personal and vocational development.

The role requires a teaching qualification and a commitment to safeguarding, with DBS checks and ongoing professional development, in a setting that fosters rehabilitation and progression.

Qualifications

• Teaching qualification required, further qualification to be obtained within 12 months
• Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy required

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Durham, working as a Barbering Teacher. This role is offered on a permanent, part-time basis, working 18.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday afternoons.

HMP Durham is a Category B men's prison located in Durham, England. The teams aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe, and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison's mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.
