Job summary

Novus is recruiting dedicated Cover Teachers to join our prison education teams in the North East, delivering high-quality lessons in secure environments. This ad-hoc, zero-hour role offers flexibility, holiday pay, pension contributions and ongoing development.

Roles are based at HMP Deerbolt, HMP Durham, HMP Frankland, HMP Full Sutton, HMP Holme House, HMP Kirklevington Grange, HMP Low Newton and HMP Northumberland.

Qualifications

• Teaching qualification with QTS/QTLS; commitment to obtain outstanding within 12 months
• Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy
• Ability to create engaging learning environments
• DBS clearance or willingness to undergo DBS checks

Responsibilities

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education providers as a Cover Teacher. This position is offered on a permanent Ad-hoc basis. This is a zero-hour contract.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
• Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or commit to work towards within a specified timeframe (Applies to Teachers in YOI only)
• Creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
• Achievement of quality targets
• Producing accurate and timely reports
