Job summary

Optegra Eye Healthcare in Uttoxeter is seeking a Bank Optometrist to join our multidisciplinary team. You will perform pre- and post-operative consultations and assess patient suitability for treatment, working across refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina procedures.

This zero-hour contract offers flexible shifts at our Uttoxeter Clinic, with the potential to earn up to £50 per hour depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package and funded training and development.

Qualifications

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist.
• Extensive experience as an optometrist in refractive/high street or hospital environments.
• Experience using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out examinations for refractive surgery, cataract and medical retina procedures.
• Run post-surgery clinics and document findings in EMR systems.
• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
• Provide first-line clinical advice and refer to a medical practitioner when needed.
• Ensure awareness of equipment safety and usage within the clinical framework.
• Stay updated with CQC policies by attending mandatory update courses.

The Role

As an integral part of a multi disciplinary team working alongside consultants, you will be required to carry out pre and post-operative consultations, assessing the suitability of patients for treatment. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Carry out examinations that are associated with refractive surgery, cataract, and medical retina procedures.


• Run acute and follow up clinics postsurgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.


• Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.


• Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.


• Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.


• Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses

What You’ll Need

• Current GOC registration as a fully qualified optometrist


• Extensive experience working as an optometrist in a refractive, high street or hospital environment


• Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems


• Experience of working to conversion targets and other KPIs within Vision Correction
