Job summary

Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association Limited seeks a Bank General Assistant at Dunboyne Court, Torquay, to support catering and cleaning duties for a retirement community. You will help prepare meals and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents.

You will work as part of a friendly kitchen team, delivering meals with dignity while upholding food hygiene standards and contributing to a compassionate, not-for-profit service.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning or domestic/catering environments.
• Level 2 diploma in housekeeping or catering, or willingness to work towards.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Basic understanding of health and safety in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare meals and drinks following food hygiene standards.
• Deliver a high standard of service to residents and colleagues.
• Keep kitchens, communal areas, and flats clean and tidy.
• Report faults or hazards to maintain a safe environment.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure equipment is used safely.
• Respect residents' privacy and dignity.

Your role

Catering

• Help prepare meals and drinks while following food hygiene standards
• Support customers and colleagues to deliver a high standard of service
• Keep kitchens, communal areas, and flats clean and tidy
• Report any faults or hazards to maintain a safe environment
• Monitor stock levels and ensure equipment is used safely

Cleaning

• Keep communal areas, offices, and kitchens clean and tidy
• Complete all cleaning duties to a high standard
• Report any faults or hazards to maintain a safe environment
• Monitor stock levels and ensure equipment is used safely
• Help prepare meals and drinks while meeting customers’ needs and respecting their privacy and dignity

Your skills

• Experience with general cleaning duties (desirable)
• Some experience in a domestic or catering environment
• Level 2 diploma in housekeeping or catering, or willingness to work towards
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills
• Basic understanding of health and safety in the workplace
