Job summary

Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced ultrasound practitioner for a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover across the ultrasound department and community bases. The role focuses on autonomous scanning, reporting, managing referrals, and supervising staff while liaising with the multidisciplinary team across Matlock and Buxton sites.

Qualifications

• BSc in Radiography or equivalent degree in medical physiology.
• CASE-accredited postgraduate ultrasound with vascular content.
• HCPC registration preferred or SOR accepted.
• Extensive experience performing medical ultrasound examinations and autonomous reporting.
• Experience organising and prioritising clinical workload.

Responsibilities

• Deliver autonomous ultrasound examinations and reports.
• Produce comprehensive independent ultrasound reports following department protocols.
• Receive, manage and prioritise referrals using clinical information and booking protocols.
• Undertake examinations professionally, maintaining patient care and Trust quality standards.
• Provide clinical supervision to staff in the team and other disciplines.
• Liaise and communicate with multidisciplinary team members inside and outside the department.
• Build good working relationships with other teams, departments and external referrers.
• Report incidents in line with Trust policy.
• Care for all ultrasound equipment and accessories, keeping them clean and reporting faults without delay.
• Complete all mandatory training and maintain own CPD portfolio.
• Keep up to date with advances in ultrasound and share expertise and knowledge.
• Support, encourage and take part in audit and research within the department.
