Job summary

Saab UK in Bedfordshire seeks a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop, test and deploy safety-critical software for autonomous flight systems. You will use MATLAB/Simulink to implement control laws, verify with simulations, and perform real-world flight tests near the office.

Essential: degree in aerospace engineering, aerodynamics/flight mechanics understanding, hands-on control systems experience, and SC clearance. Desirable: embedded/real-time systems and DO-178/ED-20x knowledge.

Qualifications

• Essential: degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Understanding of aerodynamics and flight mechanics and their impact on flight control.
• Experience using MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on experience designing and commissioning control systems.
• Existing SC Clearance.
• Desirable: GN&C algorithms for fixed/rotary wing vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and test safety-critical software for flight systems.
• Define requirements and implement control laws with MATLAB/Simulink.
• Verify via bespoke simulations and deploy to target hardware.
• Conduct real-world flight tests at the onsite facility and report findings.
