Job summary

Saab UK in Bedfordshire seeks a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop, verify and deploy safety-critical flight control software for unmanned and manned assets. You will work with MATLAB/Simulink to create control laws and data processing algorithms, and you will deploy software to target hardware for real-world flight tests at our test facility near the office.

Qualifications

Degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
Understanding of aerodynamics and flight mechanics and their impact on flight control.
Experience in using MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
Hands-on experience in designing and commissioning control systems.
Existing SC clearance.
Desirable: guidance, navigation and control algorithms for fixed/rotary wing vehicles.
Knowledge of sensing systems.
Hands-on experience with small UAS.
Experience with DO-178/ED-20x software standards.

Responsibilities

Develop and test safety-critical software for flight control systems.
Contribute to requirements definition and algorithm development.
Verify and validate using bespoke simulations and real-world flight tests.
Present testing results in reports or customer presentations.
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to process improvements.
