Job summary

Saab UK in Bedfordshire is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop, maintain and test safety critical software that supports aircraft flight systems. You will define requirements, implement flight control laws and data manipulation algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink, and deploy on target hardware with real-world flight testing.

The role requires hands-on control systems experience, embedded/realtime/safety-critical know-how, and the ability to communicate results effectively in

Qualifications

Degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
Hands-on experience in designing and commissioning control systems.
Existing SC Clearance.
Knowledge of DO-178/ED-20x software standards.
Experience with embedded/realtime/safety-critical systems.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain and test safety critical flight software for aircraft flight systems.
Contribute to requirements definition and create flight control laws.
Verify and validate using bespoke simulations; deploy on target hardware.
Conduct real world flight testing at Saab UK test facility near Bedford.
Present testing findings in reports or customer presentations; contribute to SOPs and continuous improvement.
