AutoCAD Technician – Electrical & Instrumentation

Location: Oakham, Rutland (commutable from Stamford, Peterborough, Grantham, Melton Mowbray and Leicester)
Salary: £50, 000 + Bonus + Benefits
Contract: Full-time, Permanent (On-site)

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced AutoCAD Technician – Electrical & Instrumentation to join our client’s established engineering team in Oakham.
You’ll create detailed instrumentation and control system drawings that support complex engineering projects across the oil & gas, power generation and industrial process sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CAD professional looking to develop their technical expertise in electrical, controls and instrumentation design within a world-class engineering business.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce P&IDs, wiring diagrams, control panel GA drawings, loop and hook-up drawings, Boolean logic drawings and associated documentation using AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical
• Review proposals, customer specifications and requirements with Controls Engineers to prepare the correct drawings for each project
• Assist in producing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure all drawings meet quality and project deadlines
• Review and implement customer mark-ups and technical feedback
• Attend workshop visits to support design changes and assist production personnel
• Create as-built drawings and updated P&IDs upon project completion
• Check both own and team drawings for technical accuracy and compliance

About You

• Qualification or equivalent experience in Electrical, Instrumentation or Controls Engineering
• Strong experience using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical within an industrial or engineering environment
• Skilled in producing control panel and wiring drawings complete with full BOMs
• Experience of P&ID drafting desirable
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise workload
• Confident communicator with a proactive and detail-focused approach
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and document control systems
