Autism Teaching Assistant

The Education Network is currently recruiting a compassionate and dedicated Autism Teaching Assistant to support children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a welcoming and inclusive school in the Bradford area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people who require additional support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with autism.
  • Assist with personalised learning plans and differentiated classroom activities.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to promote engagement and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to deliver high-quality provision.
  • Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Support pupils with communication, social skills, and sensory needs.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs (preferred).
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, supportive approach.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Relevant training (such as Autism Awareness, Team Teach, or SEND qualifications) is highly desirable.
