Job summary

Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Birmingham. You will support pupils aged 9-16 with ASC and EHCPs, in 1:1 and small group settings, helping them access learning and achieve targets.

Roles include working with ADHD, SEMH, and communication challenges to foster independence and engagement. This temporary position offers competitive pay and ongoing CPD, with after-placement support from a local consultant, and potential

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with Autism or SEND in educational settings.
• Experience in education, care, support work, youth work, or similar settings.
• Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Understanding of EHCPs and individual support strategies desirable.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Assist students in accessing lessons and achieving individual learning targets.
• Support pupils with additional needs, including ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties.
• Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development.
• Build trusting and consistent relationships with pupils.
• Support the delivery of tailored interventions and personalised support strategies.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and other professionals.
• Create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
• Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
