Job summary

Protocol Education are recruiting for an enthusiastic 1:1 Autism Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision in Ferryhill. You'll provide dedicated support to one pupil, helping them overcome barriers to learning while developing communication, confidence and independence.

This is a full-time, term-time only role running 8:30am–3:30pm, with pay at £98–£120 per day dependent on experience. Experience supporting autistic children is desirable; DBS checks and safeguarding training are

You'll provide dedicated support to one pupil, helping them overcome barriers to learning while developing communication, confidence and independence.

• Delivering consistent 1:1 assistance.
• Supporting learning and classroom engagement.
• Helping the pupil understand and manage routines.
• Supporting transitions between activities.
• Encouraging communication and interaction.
• Helping with emotional and sensory regulation.
• Implementing personalised support approaches.
• Encouraging positive behaviour.
• Developing independence and confidence.
• Supporting during less structured times such as break and lunch.
• Building a positive relationship based on trust.
• Communicating observations to teaching and SEND staff.

You don't need to have worked as a 1:1 TA before. We're looking for someone with the right attitude and approach.

Experience supporting autistic children is desirable. We will also consider candidates with backgrounds in care, support work, residential settings, psychology, youth work or similar roles.
