Job summary

WSP is hiring Associate/Technical Director to shape the future of the water environment. You will guide teams, strengthen technical capability, and influence outcomes for clients such as Severn Trent and Scottish Water Horizons. This is a growth-focused role within a 350-strong UK water team.

The position offers hybrid working with opportunities for progression, Chartership support, and exposure to landmark projects globally.

Qualifications

Degree and chartered status (or progressing) with ICE, IEI, IoW or CIWEM
Experience of wastewater hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM) and ability to check outputs
Knowledge of Water Industry Specifications, Code of Practice for Hydraulic Modelling of Urban Drainage Systems and British Standards
Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

Lead the development of urban drainage modelling capability and keep the team ahead of evolving methods and standards
Support the team lead with day-to-day management of the technical delivery team
Provide authoritative technical input on urban drainage projects, collaborating with the wastewater team for innovative delivery
Apply independent professional judgement to solve complex engineering challenges and drive innovation
Build strong client relationships and facilitate project meetings
Contribute to business development, proposals and strategic growth opportunities
Represent WSP in industry forums and conferences
Share knowledge to develop the wider water team
