Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Associate Risk Manager to join a growing UK team, supporting risk management across major infrastructure projects from Manchester, London, Birmingham or Bristol. You will engage with senior stakeholders, develop risk registers, and coach staff in risk practices to drive informed decision making.

The role requires strong experience in risk management, ISO31000-aligned processes, and travel flexibility across sectors.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in risk management on complex projects and programmes.
• Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university or hold a risk management qualification (MOR, APM Risk, IRM).
• Proven experience in a multi-discipline project environment.
• Proficient in industry risk management tools (ARM, Xactium, RiskHive, Predict).
• Experience in Quantitative Risk Analysis (QCRA & QSRA) using Safran, Primavera Risk Analyser, @risk.
• Knowledge of ISO31000, IRM or APM methodologies.
• Experience of managing a team of risk professionals.
• Flexibility to travel and work in different sectors.
• Knowledge of engineering and construction management.
• Working knowledge of project management methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Act as the risk management lead for high value projects and programmes.
• Engage with project teams to implement risk management effectively.
• Provide risk input to bids and proposals to secure new business.
• Perform risk assurance checks on project and programme risk management.
• Communicate risk data to senior leaders.
• Coach and mentor staff in risk management best practice.
• Identify, assess and prioritise risks.
• Develop Risk Registers, Risk Management Plans and Mitigation Plans.
• Conduct Quantitative Risk Analysis using Monte Carlo or similar methods.
• Design and implement risk management frameworks for projects and programmes.
• Support cost, scheduling, project controls and change management teams.
