WSP invites applications for an Associate Environmental Permitting Consultant to lead major permitting and compliance programmes across the energy, nuclear, industrial, and utility sectors.

You will provide strategic environmental and regulatory advice, overseeing complex technical work while expanding our permitting offering nationally. This role emphasises client development, mentorship, and cross‑team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading environmental permitting and regulatory strategy.
• Deep knowledge of Environmental Permitting Regulations and related frameworks.
• Strong track record delivering high‑value projects across regulated sectors.
• Experience building and maintaining strategic client relationships.
• Commercial awareness with experience supporting business development and winning work.
• Proven leadership and team development skills.
• Professional accreditation and recognised expertise in environmental permitting.

Responsibilities

• Lead major permitting and compliance programmes for energy, nuclear, industrial and utilities clients.
• Provide strategic environmental and regulatory advice to clients and oversee complex technical work.
• Develop and expand the environmental permitting offering nationally and contribute to business planning.
• Mentor junior staff and collaborate with WSP’s sustainability teams across the UK.
