Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Associate Ecologist to join our Nature team across the UK. You’ll lead ecological inputs for major infrastructure projects, mentor colleagues, and contribute to innovative approaches in biodiversity assessments.

Qualifications

• Demonstratable experience in planning and delivery of ecological services on UK/IRL projects.
• Strong understanding of relevant wildlife conservation.
• Membership in a professional institution and working towards Chartership (e.g., CIEEM).
• Excellent field skills in at least one specialist area including protected species licences.
• Proactive Health and Safety approach.
• Experience mentoring ecology team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and delivery of ecological inputs for internal and external clients.
• Produce and review ecological assessments (PEA, Baseline Reports, EIA, Habitats Regulations Assessment, Biodiversity Net Gain).
• Provide technical leadership for proportionate, pragmatic solutions.
• Lead client and stakeholder consultations with planning authorities, statutory bodies, and the public.
• Support development of technical capabilities and promote innovation/research.
• Lead bids and tenders for ecological services.
• Mentor and support junior staff and peers.
